So who is she?
Retasu Midorikawa is a shy, polite middle schooler who has, until now, lived life unassumingly and fearfully, getting good grades and being a general doormat. When she is confronted by the fact that she is no longer who she used to be, she is, understandably, angry and confused. She has this new power that gives her an advantage over others, and until Ichigo and Mint calm her down and help her to understand the nature of her job, she takes revenge on her classmates as the "ghost" of the school. After she understands her duties, however, Retasu reveals to everyone else just how helpful and kind she really is. Of course, there is the fact that she is painfully clumsy--but it never keeps her from trying to help! Retasu is incredibly caring and sweet, and her greatest desire is to have courage. The funny thing is that Retasu -does- have courage. But it takes adversity for her to "bloom". But that's okay, because Retasu learns more about every day courage with every moment she spends with her friends. It's a work in progress, but she will get there. In fact, by the end of the series, I believe she has.
Why Retasu?
Well, the first reason why I was drawn to her was because of the picture beside this paragraph--her mew outfit. Although many believe that Ichigo and Zakuro are much prettier Mews, I always thought Retasu was the most gorgeous girl out there, and I loved loved loved her mew outfit. One of my favorite parts of Retasu is that she is curvy--and her mew uniform shows off those curves. She's no stick figure and doesn't have to be. And when she lets her hair out of those ridiculous braids (which, I admit, I think are kind of cute), she's even lovelier. For less frivolous reasons, I love that Retasu is such a genuine person. She admits to her flaws and continuously tries to work past them. For friendship and loyalty, she will never let her fears get in the way--she will face them head on. And that, more than anything else, is the main reason I love her character.
